Dish of Choice
Feb, 2012 - Jun, 2012
Designed for the canteen of Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering, TU Delft
In the project 'Interactive Technology Design', the task was to change food choice behavior in the faculty's canteen. To promote balanced nutrition, we designed the Dish of Choice: a food tray that can show users what type of nutrition food items contain, based on the categories of the 'disk of five' (carbohydrates, oils, vegetables and fruits, liquids and dairy). After recognizing the user by reading his/her campus card, the tray's display shows how balanced the user has eaten that week. When new food items are placed on the tray, the display shows what it would do to the user's overall nutritional balance. The final design was showcased at the Interactive Design Exhibition in TU Delft.
